Safe Space

Safe Space Needs You!!! To view the volunteer tasks you can sign up for, go to chat.ivolunteer.com and select Safe Space Winter Shelter. Seven weeks are currently posted,from December 14th to January 31st. Your participation is important and valued and rewarding! First orientation for volunteers is posted on the home page, and there will be more training opportunities to help you become comfortable in the roles you choose.

Show Love Shows Some Love

We had the third of our Safe Space community meetings tonight as we work toward establishing a more well planned and reliable cold weather shelter. Lots of altruists from several organizations showed up wondering how they can help, but I'm grinning widest about Show Love thrift store owner Terri Blessing's generous offer to allow CHAT's Safe Space project to use part of the Show Love store for our intake center this winter.  She is well named and so is her store.

Creating a newspaper by and for those living outside

Ted Henson, co-founder of Street Sense, explains how his group empowers the voiceless.  Street Sense is Washington DC's nonprofit newspaper for people experiencing homelessness.  It would be awesome to create something like this in Chico.  Watch this to get inspired:
